SSR Calc
Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your measurements, cut lists and settings are kept on your phone.
- Things leave your phone only when you use a feature that needs it: a crew code, an account, the walkie, Quill, a mic, read-aloud, a shared photo, sending a list to the machine over the wire, or something you send to the developer.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
- The app never makes a voiceprint and never looks for faces.
Who we are
SSR Calc is made by RH Ventures LLC (“we”). Questions about this policy: in the app, open Quill and say or type “contact the developer”.
What stays on your phone
Jobs, cut lists, measurements you type, drafts, settings and machine numbers (unless you send a list to the machine over the wire, below), calculator and pitch history, your name on this phone, Quill conversations, voice fixes, job photo originals, saved recordings, and the “I agree” records. They stay until you delete them or remove the app. Saved recordings erase themselves after 30 days.
What leaves your phone, and who gets it
| When you use | What goes | Who gets it | How long it’s kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| The app itself | Your phone’s internet address and browser details, as every website gets when it loads | Netlify (hosts the app) | Netlify’s own server logs |
| A crew code | Cut lists, jobs, crew settings, the crew list and your name on this phone | Supabase (the crew’s sync server) | Until the crew deletes them. A deleted job’s marker is erased after 30 days. |
| An account | Your email and first name; your password, scrambled | Supabase (sign-in, and the emails with sign-in codes) | Until you ask us to delete the account |
| The walkie | Voice clips, who sent them and who they’re for | Supabase, to reach crew phones | A clip to the whole crew: erased after a day. A clip to one person: once it plays, or after 30 days. Each phone keeps its last 20, up to 30 days. |
| A LIVE walkie call | The call’s sound, passed through to the other phone | Google and Cloudflare (to connect the call) | Not saved |
| A mic on a box or in Quill | The recording | xAI (speech to words); Groq or OpenAI only when the developer has switched a backup on | xAI, Groq and OpenAI each say they don’t train on it and keep it up to 30 days |
| Quill | What you type or say, the boxes on the screen, and any photo you add | Anthropic (Claude Haiku) | Under Anthropic’s terms |
| Quill’s safety limit | A random tag the app made for this phone (not your phone number) and how many answers it got today; how long answers are, never their words | Netlify | By the host, to stop more than 1,000 answers a day |
| Read-aloud | The words being read out | xAI | Under xAI’s terms |
| Share my job photos (off until you say yes) | A smaller copy with no location, phone serial or owner, the job name, label and cut-list link, your name on this phone, when it was taken, and the lens and picture size | Supabase, in a closed store only phones with the crew’s photo key can open | Until someone deletes it; a deleted photo is erased 30 days later |
| Send to machine over the wire (a crew’s box at the machine) | The machine file (piece names and lengths), the list’s name, your name on this phone, and the machine box’s status, reports and the commands sent to it | Supabase, to reach the crew’s machine | Until deleted from the server; nothing erases them on a timer |
| Notifications | A code that lets the phone be buzzed | Supabase, and your phone’s push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla) | Until the phone stops answering |
| Ideas, problems, opinions, Developer support | What you send, your name, the screen, the app version, any photo, the Quill conversation with it, a call-back number if you give one | The developer, through Netlify and Supabase | Until the developer deletes it. A call-back number is wiped 30 days after the request is done. |
| Both “Help improve” switches on (off unless you and your crew both switch them on) | Voice fixes: the words heard, the mic’s guess and the number you put in | The developer | Until the developer deletes them |
Each of these companies works for us to run that feature. We don’t sell what you send, and we don’t share it for advertising.
Recording and voice
Before a phone’s walkie mic first turns on, its owner sees the recording notice and taps “I agree.” The notice says, word for word:
- What is recorded: hold to talk saves your voice as a clip. LIVE calls are not saved.
- Who hears it: everyone on your crew code, or the one person you pick. With no crew code set, any phone without one can hear it.
- Where it goes: the crew’s sync server (Supabase) carries clips to crew phones. LIVE goes through Google and Cloudflare.
- How long: up to 30 days. Crew phones erase older clips from the server and from each phone.
- No voiceprints: the app never makes one or tries to tell who is talking.
- Everyone agreed: every phone sees this screen. Its mic stays off until that person agrees.
- Mics on boxes and in Quill: what you say goes to xAI, a speech service, to be turned into words. xAI says it doesn’t train on it and keeps it up to 30 days.
You can read it again, or withdraw it, in Walkie → Settings or Settings → Sharing. Withdrawing turns the walkie mic off.
AI
Quill, the mics and read-aloud use AI companies. The AI notice says what goes to each one.
Your choices
- Every kind of sharing beyond your phone is optional. Leave the crew code blank, don’t sign in, and don’t use Quill or the mics, and nothing you measure leaves the phone.
- Settings → Sharing has the photo and Help improve switches.
- Delete photos, saved recordings and lists in the app at any time.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you: in the app, open Quill and say or type “contact the developer”. How to delete your account.
Children
SSR Calc is a tool for roofing crews and is not meant for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect anything from them. If you think a child has sent us something, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Keeping it safe
Data travels over encrypted connections. Crew photos sit in a closed store. If something we hold about you is ever exposed, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
Illinois
- The app makes no voiceprints, face scans or other biometric identifiers, and never tries to tell who is talking.
- A phone’s walkie mic stays off until that phone’s owner has agreed to the recording notice above, and “Recording to crew” shows while the walkie is on.
California
- What we collect is listed in the table above: names, emails, voice recordings, photos, crew work records, and a random phone tag. We use it only to run the feature you used and to answer you.
- We don’t sell or share personal information, and we don’t use it for ads.
- You can ask to know, correct or delete what we hold about you, and we won’t treat you differently for asking: in the app, open Quill and say or type “contact the developer”.
- The app doesn’t track you across other websites, so a browser’s “Do Not Track” setting changes nothing here.
- A phone’s walkie never records before its owner agrees to the recording notice.
Florida
- A phone’s walkie mic stays off until that phone’s owner has agreed to the recording notice above.
- We honor requests to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, whether or not a Florida privacy law requires it at our size.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the version number goes up and the app asks you to agree again before you go on.
